Maine Grains Black Nile Barley in a meal-size portion!

While the elites of ancient Egypt dined on wheat, Black Nile Barley was the grain that truly fed the masses. The dark hulls that enclose these ivory kernels are actually a deep shade of purple resulting from their high content of the antioxidant pigment anthocyanin.

Our barley is lightly pearled and bursting with flavor! Enjoy as you would rice in grain bowls, pilaf, soups, and salads. Rinse thoroughly and simmer for 25 minutes with two parts water to one part grain.
