Maine Grains Millstone Hoodie

Just in time for fall, we’re excited to be rolling out new Maine Grains hoodies! These hoodies feature nine historic designs of millstone engravings on the back and a small branded garment tag stitched onto the front pocket.

The grooves, or furrows, on each stone provide cutting edges that create a scissoring effect when the mill in motion. Engraved millstones are referred to as “dressed” and the specific designs help serve different functions in the milling process (often suited to a particular grain). The more segmented designs, leaving some sections bare, are “quarter dressed” while the more heavily grooved designs are known as “circular dressed”.
