Buttermilk Cornbread

Classic cornbread – great with any meal!


1 cup Maine Grains Organic Sifted All-Purpose Flour
3/4 cups Maine Grains Organic Cornmeal
1/2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp baking powder
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup buttermilk (sour milk or watered down yogurt)
2 eggs
3 tbsp melted butter


  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  2. Whisk together the flour, cornmeal, baking soda, baking powder, sugar and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl beat together the buttermilk, eggs and butter.
  4. Stir the wet into the dry ingredients with a few swift strokes until combined.
  5. Pour batter into a greased 8×10″ pan – or a cast iron skillet.
  6. Bake for about 30 minutes – or until bread is a golden brown.
