Fudgy Rye Brownies

  • 1⁄2 cup butter

  • 3⁄4 cup chocolate chips or chopped dark chocolate

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 2 eggs

  • 1⁄4 cup cocoa powder

  • 1⁄2 cup Maine Grains Organic Rye Flour

  • 1⁄2 tsp sea salt

  • 1⁄2 tsp cinnamon

  • toppings or mix-ins if desired – nuts, candy, cream cheese, peanut butter, etc.


  • Preheat oven to 360ºF. Butter an 8×8 pan and sprinkle with cocoa powder to prevent sticking.
  • In a microwave safe bowl or a double boiler, melt the chocolate and the butter. Mix together with a rubber spatula until mixed and melted.
  • Add sugar, mix. Stir in the eggs and the remaining ingredients until blended.
  • Pour batter into the prepared pan.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes.
  • Allow to cool fully before slicing and serving.
