Fudgy Rye Brownies

A perfect all around “…secret recipe for the best brownies…”  from Cat of Legacy Acres

Fast and reliable – and perfect as they are – or mix it up with a different flour or mix-ins as mentioned on Cat’s blog. Makes 9+/- brownies from an 8×8 pan

Ingredients

1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup chocolate chips or chopped dark chocolate
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1/2 cup Maine Grains Organic Rye Flour
1/2 tsp sea salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Toppings or mix-ins if desired - nuts, candy, cream cheese, peanut butter...

instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 360 degrees. Butter an 8×8 pan and sprinkle with cocoa powder to prevent sticking
  2. In a microwave safe bowl or a double boiler, melt the chocolate and the butter. Mix together with a rubber spatula till mixed and melted.
  3. Add sugar, mix. Stir in the eggs and the remaining ingredients till blended.
  4. Pour batter into the prepared pan
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes.
  6. Allow to cool fully before slicing and serving.
