Rye Applesauce Flatbread

A great easy recipe, thanks to Ellie Markovitch of Story Cooking

Oh the possibilities! Who doesn’t want easy, quick and delicious.


Makes one Flatbread:
3 tbsp of Maine Grains Rye Flour
2 tbsp of applesauce
Salt and pepper to taste


  1. Mix all ingredients in a bowl – it will be sticky – use one hand to keep the other hand clean/dry. If mixing on a board be sure to flour the surface
  2. Cook in a very hot pan on the stovetop for a couple of minutes.
  3. OR
  4. Bake on a cookie sheet or iron pan in a hot oven – for a couple of minutes. It will balloon like a pita.
  5. As a variation, use any fruit or vegetable pulp/puree in place of the applesauce.
