“This simple fruit kuchen (German for cake) can be made a ton of different ways. We often eat it to celebrate the coming or going of seasons, so using seasonal fruit is fun. You can use a wide variety of flours and fruits for this recipe. Use about half cup of rye or buckwheat, all whole wheat, Spelt or sifted. When I use peaches or Blueberries, a little Cornmeal is fantastic!” – Cat Morrow

  • Preheat oven to 375℉.
  • grease a round cake pan with butter.
  • In a medium bowl, combine butter, syrup, and eggs. Beat until just combined.
  • Add flour, baking powder, sea salt, and nutmeg – stir until smooth.
  • Evenly spread batter into your cake pan.
  • Top with fruit – get creative with your fruit layout or just toss it on top!
  • Sprinkle with sugar, if you like.
  • Bake for 30-45 minutes or until golden brown.
